The collaboration between Incalmi and artist Caterina Roppo, winner of the Special Prize Incalmi at the Arte Laguna Prize contemporary art competition, has resulted in Galateo ancestrale, a textile dialogue combining Caterina Roppo's and Incalmi 's research on the potential of matter.

Galateo ancestrale is a research project born in the course of an experiment on the textiles of Caterina Roppo's, work Trayma, whose characteristic feature is the intentionally imperfect weave, symbolizing the scars left by emotional trauma. In bringing textiles into dialogue with one of Incalmi's most beloved materials, copper, a new, entirely unique material was born.

Galateo ancestrale is thus a three-dimensional investigation in which the dynamics and movement of the fabric are crystallized through the use of blow-sprayed metal, a technique already used by Incalmi in the past, but unprecedented in combination with fabric. The union between the fluidity of fabric and the static nature of metal recalls, in its imperfect materiality, the aesthetics of brutalism and that of wabi-sabi.

Since for Incalmi the research process is always aimed at design, two series of objects were born from this material. The pendant lamps combine the lighting knowledge of Incalmi with the concept studied by Caterina Roppo, based on the theme of breath and investigated in its plastic dimension. In the lamps, which appear to be lifted into the air by a breath, the surface of the copper-coated fabric reflects light and captures the attention of the observer, inviting contemplation of the beauty of imperfection and the transience of the moment, at once a metaphor for vitality and an invitation to meditation. The collection is completed with the vase series.
